It's been a rough streak for the team. Since the Bullfrogs win, the team is on a 4 game skid heading into the contest against Ryleigh's LC. 2 of the losses were against 2 of the top teams in the league in Mt. Washington and Eastport. Playing with those teams is a step up for our strength of schedule from previous years and it was good to test ourselves. The other two losses were tight contests. Losing to BLC and Charm City by a total of 4 goals. Those games really show the progress the teams have made as the scores were not nearly as close in previous years. These games, even though they were losses, show the progress this team has made over the past 4 years.
The game balls go to everyone. This team has never played harder in my time running the team. A few bounces here or there and 2 of those losses could be wins. Not that I ever want to rationalize losing games, but the progress the team has made is obvious.
Athletic Wear Direct (www.athleticweardirect.com), is now the main sponsor of Sandy Point Lacrosse. The new team name for the 2009 season will be AWD/Sandy Point. We have moved our home field to Severn School in Severna Park (www.severnschool.com). Severn recently installed brand new FieldTurf and has upgraded their athletic facility. This institution is one of the leaders in the field of education and we are excited to be teaming up with them. Severn School is located at 201 Water St., Severna Park, MD.
