About Us

The AWD/Sandy Point Thirsty Walrus' started off as a tournament team in 2002 and has evolved into the year round club that it is today.

Playing out of Severna Park, MD at The Severn School's beautiful athletic complex, the team is open to all players at the yearly tryout. We focus on putting a competitive team together while also maintaining the long standing tradition of post-collegiate lacrosse of having fun, by heading to Bill Bateman's of Severna Park after games. We enjoy wonderful support from Athletic Wear Direct out of Westminster, MD as well as our many other sponsors on our sponsors page. Please visit them often.

2010 will be the team's 5th season in the American Lacrosse League. To date the team has consistently gotten better each year by doubling its win total every season. We play between 12 and 15 games per year and we play out of the Gray Conference, East Division with 6 other teams: Charm City Warhawks, Baltimore/Native Staffing, Barfly LC, Delaware Starboard, Eastport LC and the newly formed Annapolis LC.

As a part of our good fortune, one of our goals as an organization is to give back to organizations in need. In the past 3 years, we have donated money to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Homes for our Troops and others.
