Lacrosse Club

A.L.L. Ticker:
In 2002 a few guys wanted to head out to a lacrosse tournament and have some fun and we couldn't get on the regular team from our area. So we called up some buddies and formed our own team and headed out to Glastonbury, CT.  We found out we weren't that bad and ended traveling down to Annapolis, MD for a second tournament that year.

Over the past 4 years we went to more and more tournaments and had a great time doing so (even winning the Elm City Tournament in 2004). Some of our core players are still with us, and some are not, but we continue to find good players and good people to fill our ranks. Our tournament team has consisted of players from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Texas, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Colorado and Michigan, giving us a wide array of the states that we cover. You might have seen us as The Black Duck Café, Capital City, Caribooz or The Big O at a tournament.

In 2006, with some league realignment, there was an open space for a new American Lacrosse League (A.L.L.) team in our area. With help from a few people, we got everything together and participated in the Gray Conference, East Division for the first time as Odenton LC (even though we played out of Pasadena).

For 2007, we moved the team and changed the name. With the new field surfaces popping up at local high schools, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity to grab a nice playing surface that will save our old bones. We played half of the 2007 season at Broadneck HS in Arnold, MD, and the other half at Archbishop Spalding HS in Severn, MD. We hope to play all of our games at Broadneck next year, but other venues have expressed interest in having us play at their facility.

For 2008, we will have relatively little change. The name will remain the same as will our team colors and uniforms. We are hoping to expand into a women’s league at some point in the future as well as starting our own camps and clinics for kids in the summer of 2008.

If you are interested in joining Sandy Point, take a look at our website to see if what we offer interests you. If it does, then shoot me an email and I will add you to our email list so that you will get all of the updates that I send out to our players including team meetings and practices/games.
